Be Kind – On Purpose
.
While kindness comes naturally to some people, it doesn’t come quite as naturally to all. Therefore, we need to ask the question, “Can kindness be learned? “
The good news is that, yes, kindness can be learned. It’s a skill that can be developed, first, through making the conscious choice to be kind, and, second, through continuous practice. Daniel’s Keys provides that practice through a balanced curriculum centered around three Key areas:
.
- Self-Compassion: Being kind to ourselves. We place special attention on the importance of being kind, or compassionate, to ourselves. Self-Compassion is an essential component of good mental health, yet we rarely talk about it.
- Be Kind to Others – The Golden Rule: Being kind to others. We emphasize treating others as we would like to be treated, in other words, following the Golden Rule.
- Nurture Our Nature: Being kind to nature. We learn ways to show appreciation to the world around us, by taking care of our environment. Please see our Nurture our Nature page to read more about this area.
